About the Author
David Hair was raised in New Zealand s North Island. He started traveling extensively after finishing his degree in history and classical studies, and has lived in Britain and India, and spent time in Europe and South-East Asia, North America and Russia, exploring his fascination with anthropology and ancient history and culture. David now lives in Wellington, New Zealand, with his wife Kerry. His experiences have inspired and informed his writing, two award-winning YA series, The Aotearoa, YA fantasy adventure set in his native New Zealand, and The Return of Ravana, based upon the Indian epic The Ramayana. I've been reading fantasy and sci-fi for over 50 years and have read many great books and a few not so good books

I've waited a little while before I wrote this because I wanted to give David his due. I've been reading fantasy and sci-fi for over 50 years and have read many great books and a few not so good books. My biggest complaint has always been the let down of the second and sometimes even the third book in a trilogy or series. I have not been able to finish some of these books by authors I value highly. One particular author had gone so far down hill in the past that I stopped purchasing his books until just recently as he is again writing at the level I expect from him. When I purchased the first book of David Hair's Moontide Quartet I was pleasently surprised. I could find no down side to the book at all. The only complaint I had was the normal one year wait for book two. When it finally became available I read it with some trepidation. How could an author who wrote an amazing first book ever follow it with a second just as good or perhaps even better. Well, needless to say David did. As a matter of fact, in this reader's opinion he did do better. Then the long wait again for book three. It was well worth it. His books just keep getting better. I could easily compare him with GRR Martin or Brandon Sanderson, but he surpasses them. I think he reaches the heights of Tolkein, Assimov and Herbert who are the elite in fantasy and sci-fi. Now the only complaint I have is I can't locate the Ascendants Rite, book four of the quartet, in hardcover. Since I don't read my hardcover 1st edition/1st impression books as they are only for my personal library, I'll have to wait until it's out on kindle, probably another year. In closing, all I can say is that I await David's next work with great anticipation. For those of you who feel a review should tell about the book and maybe even add a few spoilers all I can say is go to Amazon where you'll find both. Miagi

A little slow in some areas but nothing like the first book

Make sure you read from the beginning of the series this isn't a series where you can pick up from the middle. With that stated if you have read the first two books then "Unholy War" is a solid addition to this epic tale. A little slow in some areas but nothing like the first book. Some questions are answered but more are raised. The story has a climatic finish from certain point of views and others seem bland, however, this story will keep you entertained from beginning to end. In my opinion this whole series will be worth you time and money and I hope the forth and final book will bring deliver a satisfying ending

Audible Version is Better

This is one of the rare exceptions where the Audible Version is way better then the book.
Brings to life the characters.

Try the audible version, it won't dissapoint.

This landmark volume assembles the leading scholars in multicultural education to discuss the history, philosophy, practice, and future of the field. Collectively, they reflect on the major research and scholarship that has developed since the field emerged in the 1960s and 1970s. The Handbook's forty-seven chapters are divided into eleven parts that clarify the meaning and boundaries of multicultural education. Topics covered include the research and education of specific ethnic groups, the role of gender and race in educational policy and practice, second language teaching and learning, academic achievement and access to knowledge, the dynamics of intergroup relations, and diversity in higher education. In addition, the volume provides objective evaluation and critical analysis of key controversies and debates in the field. The Editor James A. Banks is professor and director of the Center for Multicultural Education at the University of Washington, Seattle. His books include Educating Citizens in a Multicultural Society (1997), Teaching Strategies for Ethnic Studies (1997), and Cultural Diversity and Education (2000). Banks is past president of the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) and of the American Educational Research Association (AERA). He has held fellowships from the Spencer Foundation, the Kellogg Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Banks received the Research Review Award from the American Educational Research Association in 1996 and the Presidents' Award from the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages in 1998. McGee Banks is professor of education at the University of Washington, Bothell. She has published widely on topics related to multicultural education in journals such as Social Education, Phi Delta Kappan, and Educational Policy. Something all Educators should have

James Banks and Cherry McGee Banks do a wonderful job of editing the material of serveral authors on various ethnic groups of the United States. The historical information regarding people of color in the US in education is accurate and thorough. The most compelling aspect of this reference is the contemporary information regarding education and minorities. All schools and educators should have a copy of this handbook to refer to when discussing or researching multicultural and /or diversity education. While there is no one book which has all the answers to multicultural education this is definiately a start.

Read this one for 2nd time after first reading it over 10 years ago. It still didn't disappoint. I really want to make a movie out of this story. It may be one of my all-time favorite stories.

This guy is good!

I had earlier stumbled across another novel by Parker--"The Fallen"--about a detective who had synesthesia, the ability to see peoples' voices as colored shapes. I was intrigued by the premise of that story and how well written it was, so I picked up "Where Serpents Lie". Parker's protagonist in this story is Terry Naughton, who not only has to contend with the monstrous but memorable villain, Horridus, but also cope with his inner demons. Parker is an elegant writer who can really turn a phrase. This is a mesmerizing, gripping tale, replete with vivid imagery.

My books arrived earlier than I had expected them and were in very good condition. I was very pleased. I had read one of Parker's more recent books and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to read some (if not all!) of his earlier ones. This book I have not read yet but I know I will enjoy it as much as I did the other two. I'm glad I found a new (to me) author to read.

zomg...I need this manga in english like asap. I love the art and the story telling and thus far how Shirotani is trying to over come his fears of germs and bacteria in such an unorthodox way! Kurose is a little strange and very straight to the point, but I adore him because he tries so hard ((even if he seems like a little sadist)).
Overall Good manga and really hope for it to be brought here so people can buy and support the manga-ka.

A good introduction to missional theology.

This is one of the better books currently available introducing church leaders, pastors and lay ministers to ecclesiology from a missional perspective. Guder and his fellow writers do a worthy job of synthesizing contemporary perspectives on church in post-Christian North America. Especially engaging is the way that the writers articulate the distinctive claims a Canadian culture (as opposed to an United States culture) will make on a missional church. There are valuable lessons here for pastors seeking to become more adept in cultural discernment. What is lacking in this book are concrete examples of what a missional church "looks like" in ways different than what one finds in Christendom. One hopes that this is an absence that will be addressed in the next four volumes. In short, check out this book as a synthesis of ecclesiology from a post-liberal perspective (a la Hauerwas, Yoder, Brueggemann). Also, a note for pastors: Chapter 7, "Missional Leadership: Equipping God's People for Mission," is worth the price of the book.

After the Bible, the best book I've read all year.

I've been plugging this book at clergy gatherings for the last 6 months. This book was a partial answer to a prayer that I've had for years, "God, What are you calling us to become, because it seems clear that we can't continue with the Christendom models." I've read a lot of other books, but none come close to giving the depth of anaysis into the problem of Christendom. The essays in this book present an exiciting mission for the church as it moves to the margins of culture. The book is not an easy read for those who have limited theological training. However, with a copy of Westminsters Dictionary of Theological Terms in hand, thoughtful Christians will gain a host of insight into the North American Church context(AND YES! Extremely Practical

This book should be a must read by anyone who wants to have God's desire for the Christian church. It offers a very good understanding of the North American culture and offers a relevant understanding of our culture. The only thing that I wish they would have done, is offer some possible ways to do this and ways that its being done. However, that is not their desire of this book from what I understand. They just simply want to highlight the areas that the modern church is struggling with and what the modern church is called to be and the book does that in superb way. One of the top 5 books that I have ever read.
