When investment banker Michael McGarry's wife received a year-long art history fellowship in Bologna and Rome, he wasn't sure what he would do while she was working. A visit to Bologna's La Sorbetteria convinced him that his calling was gelato. And so began a year of first-hand research that culminated in this impressive book. If you love ice cream, you'll love this book. McGarry reviews over 50 gelaterias in northern Italy as well as Rome and Naples. He plans a follow-up volume on southern Italy and Sicily. Interspersed with reviews, McGarry explains the history of gelato and how it is to be eaten properly. He also includes a glossary of over 75 flavors, which is very helpful for any serious gelato lover/traveler. The author has a special place in his heart for the legendary Roman gelateria, Gioliti. "Half of it is the experience. It is always packed and there is always a scene he says," he says. Gelato changed McGarry's life. He has left investment banking and started his own publishing company.

Ice Cream Convert

I was what you call a hardcore ice cream addict, eating a pint a day at my height. I owned 2 ice cream making machines and even painted my kid's room 31 colors in honor of Baskin-Robbins. Then, before a vacation to Italy a friend gave me this book - and I know this sounds cliche - but it changed everything. I was so intrigued that I had my first taste of gelato hours upon landing in Rome. Art museums be damned, I sought out a new gelateria daily with the help of this book. The book is dead-on in its descriptions of the establishments and is amusing as well. The way the author wraps his own experiences around the reviews make for that personal touch that you just don't see in food guides and such. Thanks to the book, I am now a proud gelato addict (and 10 pounds lighter, to boot!)

"Gelato: Finding Italy's..." by Michael McGarry is not only a book about Gelato, it is a "how to" book for enjoying Italy. I will give a copy to everyone I know who is embarking on a trip to Italy whether it's for the first or fifteenth time. It is well researched- full of history, practicle tips, and richly flavored with humor. The guide is well organized and creatively illustrated. And it's just the right size to fit in a large coat pocket next to your passport. However, if you're not planning a trip to Italy soon- you can still drool over this book at home- it will be the inspirations for a host of sweet dreams. Ciao, J Kordonowy

Fantasic start to an intriguing new series

LOVED this book.
This is a fast paced read about a talented girl coming of age in a town rife with oddness. The mystery of the book is trying to figure what exactly IS the mystery? Cleverly written. Third to first person transitions were interesting and artsy. Unexpected flash point of view changes in the middle of the book are brief but insightful, an interesting and really unique pattern.
The author pulled it off beautifully, as usual. I loved the heritage and "look" of the heroin. I liked that she was not cookie cutter. I'm intrigued by Isaac, a mayhaps potential love interest that is not introduced immediately to the reader. The climax was both intense and exciting .
Frankly, I can't wait to read more !

MOST EASY METHOD

Having been an Industrial Engineer and Management Consultant for many years I am allways sceptical when a "new" tecnique is launched. It was in this frame of mind that I approached MOST. What a revelation, not new as such as it is based on the original tried and trusted MTM system, however it is a fresh approach, and a welcome one at that! Here is a system which is statisticaly accurate, quick to apply,and easy to understand. More importantly it encourages method development and improvement. As a recommendation I would encourage everyone in this field of operation to read this book and consider its application. I did and have just completed the approved training and certification course.

Nice idea, but the book reads as if it ...

Nice idea, but the book reads as if it was translated to English from a foreign language, and if you added that much food and additives to such a small amount of soap, you would have a gloppy mess instead of a nice bar of soap. And it would be very scratchy. And plant additives in glycerin soap turn brown very quickly so it would be ugly. But they are nice ideas, if they were added more in moderation.

EROCTICALLY CHARGED !!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe anyone would rate this book low. I thought it was really GREAT!!!!!. It contains many useful tips for a seductive, fun, relaxing and exciting massages. My boyfriend bought the book for me, but he actually read it first. One day, I came home tired and stressed after a big test. He had me lay down and he slowly, gently, and in a very erotic fashion, started massaging me. He started at the top and worked his way down, he then had me turn around(faced up) and he started massaging the front of my body. He must have not gotten half ways through the massage before I was so excited, I could barely contain myself. He stopped at different parts of my body and gave those areas special attention. It was a very satisfying and erotic experience. We did not have sex, but I certainly had several orgasms and I slept like a baby. I have since read this book and we often treat each other to a VERY relaxing, yet erotically charged massage.

I LOVED this book. It has many pleasing and erotic tips that will blow your lovers mind. I thought I pretty much knew how to make my lover squirm, but after applying what I learned from this great book, I am really BLOWING my lovers mind! The book has many tips on how to seductively move your hands around your lovers body, touching here, scratching there and my favorite part was how to gently rub him or her in certain places. What I picked up from this book has certainly charged up my sex life.
